Chambre de Commerce
Immersive 3D virtual space enabling Geneva Chamber of Commerce meetings and events in the metaverse
The Challenge
The Geneva Chamber of Commerce (CCIG) wanted to explore virtual meeting spaces as an alternative to physical gatherings—particularly relevant post-pandemic. However, generic video conferencing platforms lacked the gravitas and institutional presence of the Chamber’s historic physical spaces. The challenge was to create a virtual environment that preserved the Chamber’s prestige while enabling meaningful business interactions in digital form.
The Solution
Designed and built a photorealistic 3D virtual space on Spatial.io that digitally recreates the Geneva Chamber of Commerce’s iconic meeting room. The virtual environment maintains the architectural elegance and institutional authority of the physical space—wood-paneled walls, formal seating arrangements, and refined details—while adding the flexibility of virtual meetings. Members can gather as avatars, conduct presentations, network, and hold formal sessions in an environment that feels substantial rather than gimmicky.
Technical Approach
Used high-fidelity 3D modeling to capture the architectural character of the Chamber’s physical space, balancing visual quality with performance to ensure smooth VR/desktop experiences. Integrated Spatial.io’s collaboration features—spatial audio, screen sharing, interactive objects—to support practical business use cases. The design prioritizes usability, ensuring members unfamiliar with virtual spaces can navigate intuitively.
The Impact
The virtual Chamber became a functional tool for hybrid and remote meetings, demonstrating that institutional organizations can leverage metaverse technology without compromising their professional identity. The project positioned CCIG as forward-thinking while providing tangible value—expanding access to Chamber events for members unable to attend physically and reducing geographic barriers to participation.
